CBBC is a British-owned free TV channel for kids. Owned by the famous news channel BBC, CBBC features shows for children of all ages and teenagers till 17 as well. The channel reaches over 300,000 daily viewers during its 14-hour broadcast. Over the years, plenty of shows have changed on the channel and just like that, so has its logo. CBBC has dramatically changed its logo over the past few years.
On its launch, the first-ever logo was made using the BBC microcomputer. The word Children was written in a very basic computerized font. Just below that, at a reasonable distance, the word BBC was sprawled in a very artsy font. It kind of gave a chalkboard vibe with primary colors red, blue, and green. The letters BBC had white outlines and thin random lines cutting through them.
In 1991, a new logo was introduced after the launch of the channel. This was a slightly overdone logo with the word "Children's" written in random symbols. The entire logo was in uppercase letter, but some letters in "Children's" were bolder. The letters BBC were enclosed in separate rhombuses with a line under each letter.
In October 1997, CBBC launched a new logo that was entirely different from anything seen before. Instead of spelling out "children's" completely, they shortened it to just CBBC. The logo was first introduced on BBC One. This was the first commercial logo of all time.
In February 2002, CBBC introduced a more childish version of the logo. The logo comprises a green blob with a random purple C written in the same blobby pattern. The edges of C are really soft, and it blends in with the dark green blob. The letters of BBC are enclosed in black squares.
The same blobby logo was introduced in 3-D. The colors were also changed a bit. Green was changed from dark green to a lighter downward gradient. The blobby dark purple C was changed to a straight, bold C with soft edges and a lighter tone of purple.
On September 3, 2007, a new appearance of the CBBC was launched. Red Bee Media produced the brand recognition that accompanied the new logo. At the same time, Fallon created the trails that led to the current look's launch.
The Red Bee Media was responsible for making the new logo for CBBC. This new logo came with a redesigned studio. The new look does not really depict CBBC as a children's logo, but it is unique and versatile.
The CBBC logo is one of the most versatile of all time. While they agree that the logo does not look like a children’s channel, its versatile, unique, and colorful approach is enough to attract people.
